Pupils sit an English reading paper, two grammar, punctuation and spelling papers, and three maths papers: one arithmetic paper and two reasoning papers. Writing is assessed by teachers in school. KS2 Revision Without the Pressure
About Kate
After 13 years in primary classrooms, I know how Year 6 can feel for children: lots of practice papers and a sense that everything rides on one week in May. That pressure rarely helps anyone do their best.
My Key Stage 2 maths revision and Key Stage 2 English revision are calm and targeted. We find the topics that will gain the most marks, secure them properly and practise the papers until the format feels familiar.
I also support pupils in the move from Year 6 to Year 7, with targeted revision of KS2 skills before secondary school starts.
Beyond the Test
SATs results matter, but what a child carries into Year 7 matters more. I treat revision as a chance to secure the maths and English that secondary school will build on.
How KS2 Revision Works
A clear plan from first assessment to SATs week, shared with parents so you know exactly what is being covered.
1. Baseline
Papers
Past-paper style questions show which topics are secure and which need work.
2. Revision

A focused plan that targets the topics worth the most marks.
3. Practice &

Topic practice plus exam technique for every paper.
4. Final
Mocks
Timed mock papers in the spring to build confidence and pace.
KS2 SATs Practice Online
KS2 SATs practice online gives Year 6 pupils one-to-one support from home, at a time that fits around school. Lessons run live on a shared whiteboard, so I can see each step of a calculation or each line of a reading answer as your child writes it.
Online sessions follow exactly the same plan as in-person lessons in West London. Parents receive regular updates on what we have covered and what to practise next.
- Live one-to-one lessons, not pre-recorded videos
- Practice in the real SATs paper formats
- Clear feedback for parents after each block

KS2 Revision FAQs
The Key Stage 2 SATs take place in May of Year 6. The Standards and Testing Agency publishes the exact dates each year, and your child's school will confirm the timetable.
English reading, English grammar, punctuation and spelling, and maths. Maths has three papers: arithmetic and two reasoning papers. Writing is teacher assessed rather than tested.
Keep arithmetic sharp with short daily practice, learn times tables to instant recall, and work through reasoning questions slowly, showing working. Focus on weaker topics first rather than repeating what is already secure.
Daily reading with discussion builds inference and vocabulary. For the GPS papers, learn the key terms and practise applying them in sentences. Timed reading papers help with pace in the spring term.
